Message From The President

My name is Randy Galbreath, President and General Manager of Stratus Pipelines Ltd. Following is a brief history and introduction of our company.

My pipelining and oilfield construction began in 1982 with an organization known as SRM based out of Fairview, Alberta. There I started as a laborer and worked my way through various positions until I became manager in 1989. I remained as manager until 1997 when the owner closed the company to retire. After starting and selling another company in 2003, I started Stratus Pipelines Ltd. August 2008 will mark our fifth full year.

We are facing different challenges today than we have in the past, increasing environmental concerns, greater quality assurance recording, higher work volumes coupled with less available skilled and unskilled labor. However, with better planning, cooperation with clients and an ongoing training environment, we stay dedicated to our pursuit of excellence.

We at Stratus Pipelines are committed to being leaders in the development of new pipeline construction procedures and to reducing the overall environmental impact throughout the entire construction process. We accept this responsibility by employing these “Best Construction Practices”, and therefore aim to perform to the highest standard that we can possibly achieve. By employing this innovative approach, we believe it will result in maintaining the stewardship of one of our most precious natural resources: the land!

We at Stratus Pipelines have acknowledged that over the course of time, changes to our pipeline construction procedures have needed to improve, in order to meet the current expectations of our clients and the landowners. We recognize that landowners have concerns about disruption of land cultivation, the season following pipeline installation. In addition, we are aware of many other dilemmas, such as working around large windrows, splitting their fields, topsoil loss, admixing, erosion, and weeds. In addition, there are often other problems such as the timing of final clean-up and trench-line settlement even after final clean-up. We also appreciate that our clients want the highest quality of services provided for the most economical costs.

In response, we have teamed up with a number of stakeholders to discuss such matters and come up with solutions. Through the “Partners-In-Resources” initiative, we have employed “Low Impact Pipeline Construction Systems” that takes all of these expectations into consideration. For example, as part of our “planning” phase of each project, we develop a strategy for each parcel of land that examines the entire process, and breaks down our approach to reducing the amount of soil disturbance. It gives us the opportunity to utilize and develop some of the best available technology by allowing us to reduce the amount of soil excavated by 50%. We are then able to replace all the disturbed soil, as allowed by soil conditions. The end result is a Pipeline Project that is completed in the most efficient, effective, and economical way, while virtually eliminating the potential for right-of-way issues such as ditch-line settlement and erosion.

We at Stratus Pipelines acknowledge that we are a part of the living system and as such, have the ultimate responsibility of maintaining the ongoing stewardship of our Air, Land, and Water resources.

Thanks for visiting our website!

Sincerely,

Randy Galbreath

Re: Alberta Chamber of Resources - Major Reclamation Award

Dear Randy and Lyle,

The Alberta Chamber of Resources (ACR) is very pleased to inform you that the
innovative Cameron Bucket/Compaction wheel technology for excavating pipeline trenches has been chosen for this year’s ACR Major Reclamation Award.

Selection was made by an Alberta Environment Department process under direction of Ms. Darlene Howat and, of course, is fully supported by the ACR Membership.

We would like to extend an invitation to you and a guest and hope that you will accept the award in person at our Annual Banquet on February 8, 2008. The event will be held at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton (cocktails @ 6:00 pm / dinner @ 7:00). Please contact Wendy Hunt (420-1030) to confirm your attendance and the name of your guest.

Regards.
